The driving force behind FMG Company slow feeder dog and cat bowls is its inventor, Faye Gambino. Her love for animals and her desire to see them live the best quality of life possible was the springboard for its creation. When friends and Faye's veterinarian saw the bowl they loved the design. They encouraged her to pursue a plan to create the “one of its kind design” to the global pet market. This way we can feed dogs, cats and other small animals with ease while alleviating any strain cause by other bowls. The Pet Bowl is uniquely shaped with a convex center so that food is raised, making it easier for pets to eat. At FMG Company, our mission is to help pets eat their food in a manner that allows them to live longer, healthier, and happier lives!
The Pet Bowl also prevents dogs, cats, and other animals from gulping their food and reduces the ingested air that accompanies aggressive eating. When an animal eats and drinks more slowly, it aids the digestion of their food, allowing more nutrients to be absorbed. Flat faced dogs such as Pugs can eat without getting food all over their face. Dog Bloat: A Life-Threatening Condition
Knowing how to recognize Dog Bloat could save your pet’s life. Bloat, or gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV) is when air accumulates in the dog’s stomach which can sometimes cause the stomach to rotate or twist on its axis. This condition, referred to as torsion or volvulus.
Both conditions can be life-threatening but the bloat without the volvulus will take longer to become critical for the animal. “A dog can go into shock from bloat because the stomach expands, putting pressure on several large arteries and veins. Blood does not get through the body as quickly as it should”, cites Alicia Faggella DVM, a board-certified specialist in veterinary emergency and critical care.
Veterinary Surgery published an article in 1996, citing that an estimated 40,000 to 60,000 dogs in the U.S. are affected with a 33% mortality rate. Advances in medicines and surgical techniques have improved that statistic.
